FAQ – Freeride & Touring Skiing

What is the difference between freeriding and ski touring?

Le freeride consists of skiing off-piste, in search of beautiful virgin slopes and powder,
generally accessible by ski lifts or a short skin access.

La hiking (or freerando) combines climbing on sealskins and off-piste descent, providing access
to wilder and more exclusive terrains.

What level is required to participate in a freerando outing?

Must be comfortable on black runs and have initial experience of off-piste skiing.
Physical condition must be good to be able to do mountain climbs and descents.
Our guides always adapt the itinerary to the level and pace of the group.

What equipment should I bring for a day of freerando?

In addition to your classic ski or snowboard equipment, you will need:

  • Freerando skis or splitboard with suitable bindings
  • Sealskins for climbs
  • Comfortable ski touring boots
  • Safety equipment: ARVA/DVA, shovel, probe, ABS bag (provided by us)

Where do your freeride and hiking outings take place?

We offer itineraries in the French, Italian and Swiss Alps,
particularly around Chamonix, La Rosière, Courmayeur and the Tarentaise.
We adapt the program according to the snow conditions to guarantee the best powder descents.

What does a typical day of freerando look like?

Meet your guide in the morning for the safety briefing.
Gradual ascent in skins (1 to 3 hours depending on the route), then descent into unspoiled and wild areas.
Lunch break at altitude and return at the end of the afternoon after several unforgettable runs.

Is it available for a short period?

Yes, you can book a discovery day to test the activity,
or a full stay of several days, combining freeride and ski touring.
We offer tailor-made packages based on your wishes and availability.
